CHRYSOPRASE (AUSTRALIA) – SUGARLOAF TRILLION, 4.45 CT.

This Sugarloaf cabochon was cut from original Marlborough material mined in the 1960s. It came from an old collection and I’ve kept it in reserve for many years. Its vivid, very slightly bluish-green hue captures the eye and attention. Weight is 4.45 ct. and it measures approx. 10.8 x 10.8 x 11.7 mm. and 6.6 mm. high. It has one very tiny open cavity on a tip very near the girdle. It’s barely noticeable and will be easily concealed by a bezel. The stone is highly polished on all surfaces. This natural green chalcedony is the most valued member of the quartz family. It is not treated in any way. Quality material is very scarce. Chrysoprase is highly valued in Asia as an alternate to Jadeite. It is not a Birthstone but is associated with the Zodiac sign of Gemini. (All uses, N)
