“SONORA SUNSET” DESIGNER CABOCHON (Mexico) – 28.2 Ct.

Sonoran Sunset is a marketing name for an exciting newly-introduced copper gem mineral discovered in Mexico.  It consists of bright red cuprite (variety chalcotrichite, for the mineral people), who will also want to know it contains chrysocolla, malachite, plancheite and tenorite. It’s very striking and lovely with its bold colors and patterns in blue, black and bright red. This long cushion-shaped stone weighs a bit over 28ct. and measures approx. 16.5 x 28.5 x .5 mm. A nice blend of red, blues and blacks in this high-domed stone. It’s very nicely polished front and back and is guaranteed untreated. (Some care, N)
