This is a fine example of classic Owyhee Jasper from Oregon USA. It’s probably the best known scenic jasper from the U.S. and is widely loved for its blue “skies” and desert-like landscape vistas. The name Owyhee is a corruption of the word Hawaii. An early band of fur trappers included some Hawaiians who got lost, and their mispronounced name lives on. They were eventually found, by the way. This fine stone has a glittering polish front and back and has a high dome. It’s approx. 40 x 30 mm. Its scenes are interesting in any orientation: vertical or horizontal. (All uses, N)
