BLACK SKIN AGATE DESIGNER CABOCHON (India) – 40.15 ct.

This fine agate is often called India’s “Montana Agate.” It is similar in many ways and very different in others. While it often has markings somewhat like the U.S. agate, it also displays very interesting and different patterns like the fascinating water-level grid in this cabochon. I tried to suggest the pattern’s shape in the shape of the cabochon. It weighs 40.15 ct. and measures approx. 36 x26 x5 mm. It has a brilliant polish on its low dome and flat back. A creative designer can do something very unusual with this stone, which has correct girdle angles for setting. (All uses, N)
