PRECIOUS OPAL (Australia) – 3.66 ct. (Some care, N)

Red is the most popular and expensive opal color and this one has plenty of it, bright and beautiful! I cut it as a free-shape and it will fashion into a spectacular ring or pendant. It’s the type of opal sometimes called semi-crystal: translucent enough to see beneath the surface but not "see through" transparent. It’s multicolored with very bright red, yellow, orange, green, blue broad flash color play against an N7 grayish body tone . At certain angles the face has a vivid red cat’s-eye effect. It’s approx. 3.66 ct. and measures about 8.9 x 17.9 x 3.6 mm.
